Description:
The S1 electric reverse gear.
The S1 reverse, it simply plugs onto the S1Tensioner shafts spline & bolts to the S1's right side clamping plate with four bolts.
When engaged the reverse drives the tensioner shaft in a clockwise direction, (viewed from the buggies right side).
This in turn drives the chain in a reverse direction.
With the reverse systems 5.7:1 reduction, combined with the reduction of the final drive 15 to 60 tooth sprocket ratio of 4:1, the Total reduction between reverse & rear wheels is 22.8:1.
Electric motor = 1.4 kw
Total reverse width = 230mm
Total reverse depth = 210mm
Total weight = 5.4 kg
Reduction = 5.7:1
Centre drive spline = 1.375” 21 Spline
Case pre-greased & O-Ring sealed.
All bolts stainless steel.
Billet 6061 T6 alloy cases.
Total reverse plus chain reduction = 22.8:1
Suits Piranha III
To install onto the S1 rear.
You may need to remove the drive chain & adjust the tensioner shaft to it's half way position so it is half way up the housing.
The reverse will now plug straight onto the tensioner spline.
Four stainless M8 bolts are supplied with the kit.
The bolts pass through the reverse billet housing & screw into the right side clamping plate. Use loctite.
Note: The best method of wiring the reverse motor is via a relay that is energised by the motorcycle engines neutral light switch.
Once in neutral, the relay switches, which then opens the circuit & allows the reverse push button switch to operate.
This is a safety measure to prevent the reverse being engaged whilst in gear.
The reverse will require the vehicle to be fitted with a car battery of at least 450 CCA capacity.
Below is an image of the S1 REVERSE used on a different buggy design.
Fitted to a Barracuda buggy & the output shaft of it's Hayabusa engine.
Once in Neutral the S1 REVERSE powers the ouput shaft of the motor in the reverse direction.
To couple the reverse to the output shaft a piece of 21 spline shafting is drilled & tapped to the same thread as the sprocket retaining nut.
So the 21 spline shaft replaces the sprocket nut.
The S1 reverse then simply slides onto the 21 spline shaft & then mounts made to fix the S1 reverse housing securely in position.
