The Edge Products introduce the CV2 rear suspension. Built upon the popular PIRCV rear suspension the CV2 is an upgraded tougher version.
Designed to go behind the high horsepower bike engines the CV2 driveline can handle in excess of 250 horsepower.
The Edge Products has tested this design for several years in various types of offroad buggy before introducing these “do it yourself” plans.
Please note: The CV2 rear suspension comes with a number of options.

Single inboard XVS brake --- Outboard Wilwood brakes
The single XVS brake is suitable for lighter vehicles such as the Barracuda, but heavier buggies like the X2 benefit from the dual Wilwood calipers' stopping power.
Lower arms with or without track rod mounts.
The X2 is fitted with track rods which mount to the lower suspension arms at specially designed mounting brackets. These arms are not compatible with the Barracuda, which only needs plain arms without the track rod mounts.

Design features include:

  • Race Proven high angle 930 Porsche CV joints.
  • Tough drive axles.
  • Tough centre housing that welds into your chassis.
  • Double A arm suspension design.
  • Fully adjustable camber & toe using “quick turn” adjusters.
  • Huge 115mm Roller bearings to handle offroad abuse.
  • Progressive camber, (From 0 at ride height up to 12.5 degrees).
  • Up to 14 inches of true wheel travel.
  • Tough reliable & easy chain adjustment.
  • In board 312mm disc brake, (12.3”) with twin piston caliper or outboard 312mm rotors with 4 piston Wilwood calipers.
  • Large 60 tooth 530 pitch sprocket allowing low gearing.
  • Electric reverse gear.
  • Easy to remove central drive cartridge.

Specifications

 Suspension design:
Unequal length Double 'A' arm independent

Wheel travel:
Up to 355mm travel (14") depending on shock absorbers

Track:
1600mm (63") hub face to hub face (at full droop)

Camber:
0 to 1.5 degrees negative at ride height, (adjustable) & up to 12.5 degrees negative at full travel

Brakes:
Inboard 312mm (12.3”) rotor with twin piston caliper or outboard 312mm rotors with 4-piston Wilwood calipers.

Ground Clearance:
405mm, (16") when fitted with 30x9.5x15” tyres

Wheel stud pattern:
6 stud on 139.7mm (5.5") PCD

Suitable engines:
Designed to suit large chain drive type motorcycle engines up to 200hp.

Estimated cost to manufacture:
$2,600 to $3,600 (depending on skill level & facilities available). All components can be manufactured to these comprehensive plans.

 

 

 

The CV2 Rear suspension is improved over the PIRCV in the following areas:

  • Stronger lower suspension arms.
  • Lower arm adjuster housings angled to allow CV “Overboots”.
  • Stronger centre housing.
  • Electric reverse gear.
  • Option of “Outboard” wheel brakes with massive 312mm floating disc rotors combined with 4 piston Wilwood calipers.
  • Extra drive bolts for sprocket mount.
  • Larger capscrews on centre drive.
  • Billet one piece wheel hubs with larger capscrew mounts.

Full construction plans for the CV2 rear suspension assembly are available, suitable for the home builder. They are derived from our latest CAD models for ultimate accuracy and clarity, including 64 pages of 3D and 2D computer-generated drawings and build notes including parts, material and fastener lists. The CV2 plans lay out the complete build process of the suspension unit, and can be fitted to custom project vehicles for the best in off-road suspension performance.
